Character copy to highlight people first approach

An exercise in branding

Linensforliving.com was a sister site of US-Mattress.com, where I worked as a copywriter from 2012-2014. Before launching the website, the team wanted to create a brand personality that was light, fun, and didn’t take itself too seriously. I believed we could do this by showing different kinds of people sharing linen-related thoughts throughout the site. I pitched the idea of creating illustrated characters and captions to show at the top of each page. The team liked the approach, so the site went live with the illustrations shown here.

This was pretty early in my career, and I couldn’t believe I had the freedom to try and be funny with this work. The website didn’t end up hanging around that long, and I can’t say for sure, but I think it’s because they decided to take these illustrations down at some point.
